sparrows feeding during the winter

August 27, 2011

I had made a bird feeder out of a large piece of plywood and set the camera up to videotape. This little clip was is wonderful to pause and study. The winter was hard and the green paint is designed for the warm dry environment of a photography studio. By the time the birds would “trust” the feeder the paint had chipped.

The birds would sit in the bushes next to the sidewalk. When someone would pass by they would simply jump into the center of the bush rather than use the energy to fly away.
